Chani Ra is a tastemaker, stylist, and the founder of The Fashion Nap, where she talks all things fashion while her baby naps.

When did you start the fashion nap?
October 2022, on my maternity leave!
How would you describe your style?
I always say my style is fun. I like bright colors and clashing prints. I like glamour. But, also a big chunk of my wardrobe is practical, because the reality of my life is that I'm a mom, right? So, fun, glam, and practical.

What's your favorite neighborhood in London for a girls night out?
I don't stick to one borough, anywhere with great food and good company.
What book are you reading right now?
I'm always reading bits of different fashion books at once. The last book I read in full was Matriarch by Tina Knowles. It really inspired me how adaptable she was to her children's individual needs while working so hard to fulfill her own. I just bought the book from the Kerry James Marshall exhibition so that will be next.

Do you have a morning routine?
It varies depending on if my son has preschool or not, but it always starts with Earl Grey.
What do you love most about being a mom?
It's full of surprises and it teaches you that nothing is that serious. Priorities are just different. I don't get as stressed out about the same things I used to get stressed out about. I feel like you learn to train your brain to move on a lot faster because you always have to go on to the next thing. It changes you, but I think it made me more productive. I used to be such a procrastinator.

What are 5 essentials you always have in your bag?
I always have at least five types of lip balms, does that count as five? But if I count those as one then I would say this time of year I always have gloves, headphones, a film camera and two phones.
What do you love most about being a stylist?
Getting to experiment with styles completely different to my own.
